Toastmaster for Learning English and Public Speaking

Training Leadership Institute (TLI)

It was the first time a Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) Round1 conducted especially for DISTRICT 87 which covers
JOINT DIVISIONS I & J last 24 JULY 2010 at the RUSSIAN CULTURAL CENTER, JAKARTA

The TLI is always useful not only for new toastmasters but also the old-time toastmasters to learn about functions/roles of Excos (Executive Committee) and some other issues related to toastmaster so that audiences understand a bigger picture and can gain benefits from his/her joining the membership.

The agendas delivered during that day covered (1) Achievement data of DISTINGUISHED CLUB PROGRAM (DCP) as per area clubs, by LGET Mien Soenari , DTM  (2) Explanation of DCP and the critical success factors by TLI Chairman/PDG Dunstan Chan, DTM  and (3) Communicating with TI online by District Governor DTM Md. Ariff Azahari and (4) CHARTING A COURSE FOR CLUB SUCCESS by TLI Chairman / PDG Dustan Chan, DTM.

The TLI was highlighted with DTM Md. Ariff Azahari’s DARE TO SHINE slogan which he motivated us to do our role well, go for the next steps, and  not to wait but to proceed reaching for our own success.  His additional sharing of Jorn Utzon stories have taught us to dare to dream, create our own master piece, courage to face all challenges and realize our dreams. Bravo !!!

Post TLI and after lunch, PDG Dunstan Chan, DTM held a  TTOT (Train-The-Trainer) crash course for those who were interested to become a toastmaster trainer in the future. He meant to conduct mini class but didn’t expect that it turned out to be quite a large class coming from many enthusiastic toastmasters to join his class.  Within such a short span of time, he managed to teach several topics, among others, “Speechwriting Made Easy“, Judging A Speech Contest”,  Evaluate and Motivate”.

PDG Dunstan Chan, DTM is such a sincere, caring, warm and generous toastmaster.  By using his personal true experiences, he had touched our heart knowing him better in person, qualities, excellences and integrities. He had also enriched our knowledge and wisdom how to be a better toastmaster or judge or evaluator when doing our roles in a speech project or contest. His energetic and willingness-to-share many things in the TTOT was indeed a blessing for all of us, the participants, to push ourselves become a role model after him as  future toastmaster trainer.

Million thanks go to both of you, DTM Ariff and Dunstan. May your both sharings sparkle Indonesian toastmasters clubs and enable us, the toastmasters daring to shine other people, giving back what you had given.
